PROCESS THREE: YOU Incorporated

Every business begins from an idea. It is the idea that is used to set up a business/company. It is the same idea that determines the product (tangible or intangible) to be offered. The same idea motivates the kind of personnel to be employed/trained, work place culture as well as service charter and customer relations.

You Incorporated is the next version of understanding self. At this level, the focus is on the idea, you. When you were created and formed in the womb, there was a reason in the mind of the creator. What happens here is that you make concerted effort to discover that reason, called purpose. Someone defines Purpose as the reason we are created. Discovering this reason will put your life in proper perspective. The earlier you discover purpose, the better for you, because the earlier purpose is discovered, the more focused life becomes.

In order to discover purpose, you need to seek from the following sources:

God – He made you and ultimately knows your purpose. Just as a manufacturer knows the purpose of the product they manufactured. The major communicating line between us and God is prayer. Therefore talk to God and with God and let him reveal your purpose to you.

Passion – This has to do with what drives you. What is it that gives you joy and captures your emotions. That aspect of life that you can live or die for can be a pointer to your life purpose.

Gifts and Talents – Everyone is endowed with gifts and talents that are peculiar to them. Those things that you can easily do even without being paid can be a pointer to the reason you were created.

Personality – Another place to look at is your personality and temperament. Though these cannot stand alone, analyzing what you can do by reason of your personality can be a lead to your life purpose. You are the way you are because of what you are born to do.

People honest perception of you – Again what people say of you when they interact with you, can be the direction to consider in looking at life purpose.

Once purpose is discovered, you should proceed to casting a vision for your life. This has to do with a foresight, based on insight and hindsight of you. This means that putting all you have discovered about your life, you can have a statement declaring where you want to be in life in achieving your purpose. No wonder someone says that Purpose is the reason you are created; vision is when you see it.

Your life’s mission deals with what you need to do to achieve your life’s vision. This will further take a cue from life purpose and further explain life’s vision. This should be a declaration that comes when vision is cast.

Climax of the ‘ You Incorporated’ is identifying your personal core values. These are selected from your personal values and should define the way you ought to live to be able to achieve the first three areas. Personal core values define what is most important to you. They define your character and lifestyle, which are critical factors in fulfilling life purpose.

When purpose is known, vision is cast, mission is established and core values are identified, the You incorporated has been established. This is the company you shall be presiding over preparatory to selecting a partner that will turn it from sole proprietorship to a public liability company.
