Oftentimes the man is expected to show affection to
the wife by initiating acts of love. This is equally supported in the Bible by
Apostle Paul’s admonition that husbands should love their wives. I believe that
the other angle which admonishes wives to submit to their own husbands also
requires that wives should show love to their husbands. In the previous
edition, we looked at the many ways husbands should show love or affection to
their wives, this article looks at ways the wife can show love to their own
husbands.
Respect Him: Well, that’s the way he is by
nature. Please don’t talk down on him on any issue, it affects his ego. Respect
for a man can be interpreted differently by an individual; my recommendation is
that you study your husband to understand what respect means to him and do it.
Have Sex With Him: He loves the emotional
connection that sex offers but to him it is a physical need that has to be met.
Just as eating food when one is hungry; the husband does not view sex as
something that has to wait because he is not happy about something. He
separates that negative emotion from his need for sex at that moment. So if
food is eaten daily, why not sex, if he feels like it daily. By nature the
husband is ready for sex within seconds of thinking about it. Nothing much
needs to be done to get him ready. The husband is wired to give by the nature
of their body and the body is ready to do it once the mind is connected to it.
So it is better not to act sick when he is already in the mood; instead, find a
way to communicate logically with him if you can’t do it that moment, once you
see the sign.
Affirm Him: Every man likes to achieve things.
Whenever he does something and completes it, be his number one cheerleader. In
fact ensure you congratulate him before other people do and in doing so, let
him know how much that achievement means to you and the family. It helps him
emotionally to know that he has a strong support from you. It helps him take on
tougher tasks and accomplish them.
Let Him See You Nude: One of the reasons some adverts
use nude or half nude pictures of ladies to project products that have nothing
to do with sex is to attract men.
Wife, please ensure that you display such
sights for him in the bedroom. Putting on lingerie in the bedroom should be
something you do regularly.
Package Yourself for Him: In
addition to seeing you nude, dressing well is another thing you need to pay
attention to. If it is possible find out the hairdo he likes to see you on and
wear it. While at home, dress the way he appreciates. Knowing that he is
designed to look, ensure he prefers looking at you to looking at other women
out there.
Don’t Nag over Issues: A man is designed to analyze
issues. They think logically rather than emotionally; therefore, do all you can
to engage your husband about an issue by discussing about it in a relaxed
atmosphere. Please avoid nagging. It will not solve the problem. Engage,
discuss, pray; these work better than nagging.
Don’t Starve Him: As a wife, you have every right
to express your displeasure over an issue. Please do not do so by starving your
husband. You must avoid every temptation to do this. Apart from the fact that
he can go to the kitchen and help himself, he can equally go elsewhere and eat.
If he chooses the latter, you cannot control what would become of him in the
process.
Give Him Gift: Sometimes it appears that only
women appreciate gifts. This is not necessarily so. Men also appreciate
receiving gifts from their wives. This is especially if receiving gift happens
to be the man’s love language. The size of the gift may not really matter; the
thought of doing it, makes all the difference. Find out what your husband likes
or what he needs at the moment that you can afford; he would appreciate such
gift.
