HOW TO INVEST IN YOUR SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING FOR YOUR MARRIAGE

Man is a spirit, which has a soul and lives in a body. Therefore the real being is expected to live a more spirit-based life. The intention is to ensure that we are connected to the source of our existence and be able to live in line with the real purpose for which we were created.

The implication is that ensuring the well-being of the spirit in a man determines how the person is able to manage issues around their life and their immediate environment per time. The state of one's spiritual well-being plays a role in the person's capacity to manage situations and stand in times of challenges.

There is no better place to ensure a sound spiritual well-being than in a marriage relationship. The marriage institution was created by God. It takes walking with Him to keep it in line with God's original intention. Here are some ways individuals in marriage can ensure their spiritual well-being in order to maintain harmony in their marriage.

Fellowship with God: Referencing the events at the Garden of Eden after the creation, God and Man had fellowship regularly, in fact on daily basis. Today such fellowship is maintained to keep the spirit well and sensitive to spiritual signals and to ensure strength.
Four major ways to do this are studying the word of God; Praying in the spirit and in understanding; interacting with the Holy Spirit in meditation and singing spiritual songs. These actions supply stamina to the spirit man just as food supply stamina to the body, hence ensuring the well-being. Do this as individuals and as a family.

Fellowship with Fellow Human Beings: The Bible enjoins us not to neglect fellowship with other people. The benefits are based on the opportunities such fellowship provides. These include: Prophecy, which can offer divine direction on issues; Exhortation, which can encourage, motivate as well as offer direction; there is also opportunity for giving, to God and to others. Another opportunity is that of evangelism, sharing the gospel with other people. There is also opportunity of using one's gifts and talents, as well as spiritual gifts to serve in the body of Christ. These are channels of investment, which yield spiritual harvest to the person. Do this as individuals and as a family.

Acting on God's Instructions: This can also be called obedience to God's instructions. These instructions can be during direct study of God's word; during prayers and personal worship as well as during prophecies and exhortations. This also includes doing what the word of God says, including loving God and fellow human beings. Obedience to God results in spiritual blessings in various ways. It is a proof of spiritual growth and gives room for more spiritual instructions and spiritual growth opportunities.

Trusting in and Waiting on God: It is easy to simply seek quick ways of resolving issues that confront us on a daily basis from our human mind and our experiences. However it is also a mark of spiritual maturity to trust God and wait in line with any instruction He may have given on the issue. Therefore this implies listening to know God's view on a given issue, then deciding to align with it no matter what it takes. It is a proof of confidence in God and enhances the individual's spiritual well-being.

Ensuring the spiritual well-being of individuals in a marriage relationship is vital. It is a mark of spiritual maturity which is a prerequisite in managing responsibilities in the marriage institution.
